About KAS Law

KAS Law is the law firm of Kevin A. Schweitzer. Kevin is a longtime resident of the Chicago area. He was born and raised in the tiny suburb of Harwood Heights and still has strong ties to the Northwest Side, where he now lives.

Kevin attended the Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he graduated in 2016. While in school, he was Articles Editor of the Gaming Law Review. After graduation, he returned home to Chicago and was admitted to the Illinois Bar later that year. He is also admitted to practice in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

He finds that his past careers have served him well in the practice of law. Kevin started out his career in journalism, including six years as an editor at the Chicago Tribune. The skills he developed in journalism transferred directly to law: proper research, asking incisive questions, and the ability to look at conflicts from all points of view. After the Internet began to erode print journalism, Kevin went in search of new careers. Among other jobs, he spent three years as a real estate agent, learning the ropes of property transactions that he now manages in his law practice.

Kevin opened up KAS Law in 2019. He chose his initials for the firm name so that you wouldn’t have to figure out how to spell “Schweitzer” while looking him up. In his free time, Kevin likes to play his guitars, ride bikes, follow his many beloved Chicago sports teams, and play euchre.
